Emory & Henry Men’s Wrestling Takes Seventh At The NWCA National Duals Saturday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Wrestling Team competed at the USMC/NWCA Multi-Division National Dual Meet Championships on Friday and Saturday. The Wasps wrestled in three pool play duals on Friday and three placing duals on Saturday. Seeded eighth in the NCWA division, which included club teams and NCAA varsity teams from reclassifying institutions, E&H finished in seventh place defeating University of Central Florida on Saturday afternoon.

- Freshman Hunter Brown (Vinton, Va.) earned a win by forfeit at 197 pounds.

- The Royals picked up the sweep including one forfeit win in an unfilled weight class.

Saturday Placing Matches

Liberty 57, Emory & Henry 3
- Fifth-year Donovan Pinnix (Eden, N.C.) picked up a win by a 10-5 decision at 285 pounds.

Grand Valley State 40, Emory & Henry 24
- The dual began at 12-12 due to unfilled weight classes.
- Freshman Alex Baumberger (Glade Hill, Va.) earned a win by fall with 3:33 elapsed off of the clock at 174 pounds.
- Pinnix got his second win of the day, this time by fall just 27 seconds into the bout.

Emory & Henry 31, Central Florida 26
- The dual began at 18-6 in favor of the Wasps due to unfilled weight classes.
- Sophomore Isaiah Dotson (Jonesville, Va.) earned a major decision (9-1) victory at 149 pounds.
- Freshman Konor Gray (Winston-Salem, N.C.) picked up a win by fall at the 30 second mark at 165 pounds.
- Baumberger clinched the win for the Wasps with a victory by decision (9-2) at 174 pounds.

- The Wasps return home on Thursday to take on South Atlantic Conference Carolinas opponent Belmont Abbey College. The dual is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., at the John Rutledge King Center.
