Eastern Mennonite Women’s Soccer Slips By Emory & Henry, 1-0, Saturday Afternoon

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Eastern Mennonite University Women's Soccer Team (8-3, 3-2 ODAC) scored in the sixth minute of the match and held on to win by a 1-0 score over Emory & Henry College (2-9-1, 2-3-1 ODAC) Saturday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.

The Royals got the only goal of the contest at the 5:29 mark of the first half. Nora Osei dribbled through traffic and beat the E&H back line and then placed the ball in the back of the net. For the remainder of the game, the Wasps' defense held strong as the contest would conclude with the single goal scored.

Emory & Henry held a 12-8 advantage on shots including a 5-3 margin on shots on goal. The Wasps also had chances in the final 15 minutes of the game but the one-time shots went just wide of the goal.  Junior forward Erica Merriman (Cornelius, N.C.) tallied four shots while senior Jessi Biggs (Vienna, Va.) had two shots in the contest.  

Eastern Mennonite goalkeeper Becca Borg had four saves in the match while E&H senior Sarah Jerome (Charlotte, N.C.) made a pair of stops.

EMU held a 4-1 advantage on corner kicks but was called offside on three different occasions.

Emory & Henry will travel to Washington and Lee University on Tuesday afternoon for an ODAC match. Kickoff between the Wasps and Generals is set for 4:00 p.m.
