Emory & Henry Women’s Soccer Unveils 2015 Season Schedule

EMORY, Va. – Emory & Henry College Head Women's Soccer Coach Linda Schirmeister-Gess, now in her fourth season, is pleased to announce the Wasps' slate of 17 matches for the fall of 2015. E&H will play six non-conference matches to start the season before finishing things off with 11 contests against Old Dominion Athletic Conference opponents.

Emory & Henry will open the season on Tuesday, September 1 at home against Averett University at 5:00 p.m. The match will be the first of a doubleheader with the E&H men's team.

The Wasps will be on the road for their next three contests including a pair of matches at Southern Virginia University. E&H will take on Marymount University on Friday, Sept. 4 and then the host SVU Knights on Saturday, Sept. 5. Emory & Henry will complete the road swing on Wednesday, Sept. 9 with a match at Ferrum College.

The next three dates are to be played in the friendly confines of Fred Selfe Stadium. The Wasps will host the Pride of Greensboro College (Sat., Sept. 12 – 4:00 p.m.), the William Peace University Pacers (Wed., Sept. 16 – 5:00 p.m.) and then open ODAC play on Saturday, September 19 against Randolph-Macon College at 11:00 a.m.

Emory & Henry will play two of its next three contests on the road, traveling to Randolph College (Sat., Sept. 26) and Virginia Wesleyan College (Sat., Oct. 3) with a home game against Bridgewater College (Tues., Sept. 29 - 5:00 p.m.) in between.

Two more home matches come in early October with the Wasps hosting the Guilford College Quakers on Tuesday, October 6 at 5:00 p.m., and the Hornets of Shenandoah University at 11:00 a.m., on Sunday, October 11.

After traveling to Roanoke College (Wed., Oct. 14) Emory & Henry will play host to Hollins University on the evening of Homecoming, Saturday, October 17 at 7:30 p.m. The contest will also serve as Senior Day for the Wasps.

Another two away matches begin the final stretch for E&H as it travels to Eastern Mennonite University (Sat., Oct. 24) and Washington and Lee University (Wed., Oct. 28). The Wasps will conclude the regular season on Friday, October 30 against defending NCAA Division III champion Lynchburg College at 6:00 p.m.

"I am incredibly excited for the upcoming season," commented Gess. "We are excited to start with a home game in order to welcome our incredible home support to the season. Many of our key games this season will be at home and we truly feel like our home support will be a difference maker. The ODAC schedule is always tough and having the chance to compete against the DIII National Champions is a challenge we will build to all season!"

The 2015 ODAC Women's Soccer Tournament will be played during the first week of November with exact dates yet to be determined. The top eight teams from the regular season will qualify with the quarterfinals to be played at the highest four seeds. The semifinals and championship game will be played at the highest remaining seed after the quarterfinals.
