Emory & Henry Women’s Soccer Defeats Randolph, 2-1, In ODAC Opener Saturday

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Soccer Team (2-5, 1-0 ODAC) opened Old Dominion Athletic Conference play with a 2-1 road win over Randolph College (2-4-1, 0-1 ODAC) Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
- Emory & Henry got on the board at the 25:46 mark as senior forward Christina Ameen (Sweetwater, Tenn.) found freshman forward Kelci Horner (Salem, Va.) with a cross that Horner put in the back of the net.
- The WildCats responded to equalize with 2:02 to go before the break as Hunter Robinson scored, assisted by Talia Tomlin.
- E&H got the match-winner in the 75th minute. Sophomore forward Ashley Love (Zirconia, N.C.) took a pass from junior midfielder Lauren Fleming (Troutville, Va.) en route to finding paydirt.

Emory & Henry Leaders
- Horner had two shots on goal in the contest and a goal while Love scored on her only attempt.
- Senior Kayla Wright (Franklin County, Va.) and junior Kieran Liseski (Mooresville, N.C.) split the contest in net evenly, with Liseski making a save during the second 45 minutes.

Randolph Leaders
- Robinson and Alaina Gembach both had shots on goal for the WildCats.
- Stephanie Quirk suffered the loss in goal for Randolph.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry held a 5-2 lead on corner kicks and was flagged for the only offside violation of the contest.

- Emory & Henry will remain on the road Tuesday when it visits Southern Virginia University for a non-conference match.
