Meredith Women’s Soccer Steals 2-1 Overtime Win From Emory & Henry Tuesday

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Meredith College Women's Soccer Team (3-1-1, 0-0 USA South) needed an extra minute and 19 seconds in order to escape with a 2-1 victory over visiting Emory & Henry College (0-6-1, 0-0 ODAC) Tuesday evening.

How It Happened
- Early in the 42nd minute, MC's Jessica Wallace used her speed to get past a pair of defenders and tapped the ball past the goalkeeper.
- The Wasps equalized in the final minutes of the contest as freshman forward Callie McMurray (Gate City, Va.) netted her first collegiate goal with just 2:05 to go in regulation.
- No sooner than the extra period began, the Avenging Angels were able to score and claim the victory. Wallace got her second goal of the game, this time after receiving a pass from Katie Quinn.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Freshman midfielder Eva Hart (Asheville, N.C.) had a team-high three shots while both McMurray and junior forward Ashley Love (Zirconia, N.C.) posted a pair of shots on goal.
- Senior goalkeeper Kieran Liseski (Mooresville, N.C.) made 11 saves in the opening 45 minutes of play while sophomore Kaela Schlevensky (Haymarket, Va.) stopped seven shots as she played the second half and overtime.

Meredith Individual Leaders
- Wallace led all players with her two goals on six shots while Hannah Elvington put three of her four attempts on target.
- Miranda Lutz earned the win in net for Meredith, making four saves on the night.

A Deeper Look
- The Avenging Angels held a 28-10 lead on shots, including a 20-6 margin on shots on goal.
- MC edged E&H, 5-3, on corner kicks but Wasps attackers were called offside on two different occasions.

- Emory & Henry will open Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Saturday when it visits Bridgewater. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
- The match will be the first in a doubleheader as the E&H and BC men's soccer programs will take the field at 4:00 p.m.
