Emory & Henry Women’s Soccer Takes Down Southern Virginia, 2-1, Saturday At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Soccer Team (2-4-1) rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit on its way to a 2-1 victory over Southern Virginia University (2-5-1) Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

How It Happened
- The two squads went back and forth through the first 40 minutes, challenging for control of the midfield.
- SVU struck first, getting its goal late in the 42nd minute as Sydney Kuhni crossed a ball into the box, finding the feet of Tori Wescott. Wescott struck a shot off the hands of the goalkeeper which found its way into the net.
- Coming out of the break, the Wasps swarmed forward on the attack. Just 1:59 into the half, sophomore forward Callie McMurray (Gate City, Va.) played a long pass ahead for freshman forward Kirstin Comer (Titusville, Fla.), who placed it inside the right post.
- E&H added the go-ahead goal in the 65th minute. After the Wasps possessed the ball through the midfield, McMurray made a pass across the box to the feet of freshman forward Amber Altice (Rocky Mount, Va.), who finished to the back post.
- Southern Virginia threatened late, but Emory & Henry held strong for the 2-1 win.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Comer's equalizer in the 46th minute was also her first collegiate goal while Altice picked up her team-leading third score of the season. McMurray now leads the squad with a pair of assists.
- E&H junior Kaela Schlevensky (Haymarket, Va.) picked up the win in goal, making six saves and intercepting multiple crosses on the afternoon.

 Southern Virginia Individual Leaders
- In addition to her score, Wescott finished the contest with a match-high six shots while Gracie Duncan and Kuhni added three shots each.
- Alyssa Trueman suffered the loss, making five saves.

- Emory & Henry will remain at home on Tuesday when it hosts Piedmont College in non-conference action at 6:00 p.m.
