Piedmont Women’s Soccer Edges Emory & Henry, 2-1, Tuesday Evening

EMORY, Va. – The Piedmont College Women's Soccer Team (6-4-1) got the go-ahead goal with 20 minutes remaining and held on for a 2-1 victory against Emory &Henry College (2-5-1) Tuesday evening.

How It Happened
- After a scoreless first half, the Lions made a statement early in the second half. Cassie Kirk made a pass into the box to an awaiting Amanda Weinhart who one-timed it to the back post for the score late in the 48th minute.
- Emory & Henry answered just after the hour mark. Junior forward Kelci Horner (Salem, Va.) crossed in a ball from the right side that was flicked on by freshman forward Helen Frazier (Vienna, Va.). Freshman defender Michaela Monk (Bristol, Va.) was there to finish the job, earning her first collegiate goal.
- Weinhart struck again with what would be the match-winner at the 70:10 mark, again receiving the pass from Kirk.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- In addition to her assist, Horner led the team with a pair of shots on goal while Frazier and sophomore midfielder Yasmin Thorpe (Mount Airy, Md.) each tallied two shots.
- Freshman goalkeeper Natalie Capone (Kannapolis, N.C.) posted double-digit saves for the third time on the year, making 10 stops in 90 minutes of action.

Piedmont Individual Leaders
- Weinhart's goals came on just two shots on the evening as Ansyln Stamps had a match-high four attempts.
- Miranda McNally made seven saves for the Lions, earning the win in the net.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry concludes its three-match homestand on Saturday when it returns to Old Dominion Athletic Conference action against Eastern Mennonite. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
