Emory & Henry Women’s Soccer Wins, 2-1, With Strong Second Half Against Eastern Mennonite

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Soccer Team (1-6, 1-6 ODAC) picked up its first win of the year with a 2-1 victory over Eastern Mennonite University (0-5, 0-5 ODAC) Sunday afternoon on the road. Additionally, the win was the first for Head Coach Lisa Buckley, who joined the team prior to the start of the season.

How It Happened
- EMU got on the board 15:19 into the contest as Lily Dodson scored with an assist by Rachel Sauder. The 1-0 margin would hold through the remainder of the opening 45 minutes.
- Just before the hour mark, with heavy rain moving in, the Wasps equalized as sophomore forward Amber Altice (Rocky Mount, Va.) scored an unassisted goal.
- Just five and a half minutes later, midway through the 66th minute, Emory & Henry got the go-ahead goal from freshman forward Adrienne Harris (Hillsville, Va.), assisted by sophomore midfielder Grace Williams (Earlysville, Va.).
- E&H looked to quickly add to their advantage but both shots were off the mark. Eastern Mennonite had a final chance with 14 minutes remaining but the Wasp keeper, sophomore Natalie Capone (Kannapolis, N.C.), was there for the save.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Altice led the way with a goal on three shots, putting two on target while Williams and junior forward Callie McMurray (Gate City, Va.) also had three shots.
- Capone got the win in goal, making four saves.

Eastern Mennonite Individual Leaders
- Samm Livermore put three of her match-high five shots on frame but it was Dodson's score that was the highlight for the Royals.
- Anna Filipkowski made three saves despite the loss.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry has completed its regular season schedule and will now await the conclusion of the conference season next weekend. The ODAC Women's Soccer Tournament will feature eight teams with quarterfinal action to begin on Tuesday, April 6.
