Emory & Henry Women’s Soccer Battles Transylvania To A Scoreless Draw Saturday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Soccer Team (4-0-2) battled Transylvania University (4-2-1) for 110 minutes but neither team was able to find the back of the net. Emory & Henry runs its unbeaten streak to six matches to start the season.

How It Happened
- The Pioneers outshot the Wasps by a 6-1 margin in the opening 45 minutes, putting four shots on target but junior goalkeeper Natalie Capone (Kannapolis, N.C.) turned all of them away.
- In the second half, Transy continued to press on the offensive end, but its shots became more erratic as only one of 10 chances went on goal.
- Emory & Henry got its first shot on frame in the first overtime as junior midfielder Grace Williams (Earlysville, Va.) tested TU goalkeeper Morgan Patton. Sophomore defender Sophie Graham (Radford, Va.) also had an opportunity with 30 seconds to go in the period, but her shot was saved as well.
- The second overtime saw Transy earn a pair of corner kicks, but no real threats to get on the board as the contest ended, 0-0.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Capone made six saves on the evening, earning her third solo shutout of the year.
- Graham and Williams had the Wasps two shots on goal in the match.

Transylvania Individual Leader
- Patton also notched a clean sheet making two saves in goal.
- Brooke Puterbaugh and Emilie Yates led the Pioneers with a pair of shots on frame each.
