Southern Virginia Women’s Soccer Defeats Emory & Henry, 2-0, Monday Evening

BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Southern Virginia University Women's Soccer Team (6-3-2) scored midway through the 10th minute and never looked back as it earned a 2-0 win against Emory & Henry College (5-2-2) in non-conference play Monday.

How It Happened
- The Knights opened the scoring at the 9:30 mark of the contest as Makya Lindgren took a pass from Delaynee McKeachnie and put it in the back of the net.
- E&H had a pair of chances in the first 45 minutes, but neither were on target.
- Southern Virginia added a second goal with 24 minutes to play thanks to the efforts of Makinna Winterton.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior forward Amber Altice (Rocky Mount, Va.) and sophomore forward Maddie Hummel (Spotsylvania, Va.) each tallied shots in the contest.
- Junior Natalie Capone (Kannapolis, N.C.) made seven saves in goal despite the loss.

Southern Virginia Individual Leaders
- Lindgren and Sydney Liles each had three shots in the contest to lead the Knights' offensive attack.
- Abby Bloxham and Alyssa Trueman combined for the clean sheet in goal.
