
GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Emory & Henry University Women's Soccer Team (5-4-1, 2-3 SAC) mounted a valiant second-half comeback against Limestone University (3-5-2, 2-3-1 SAC), but came up just short in South Atlantic Conference play Saturday afternoon. The Saints ran out to a 3-0 halftime lead and had to stave off an E&H second-half rally to hold on for the 3-2 victory.

How It Happened
- The Saints wasted no time as they got the scoring underway in the third minute when Lucia Hidalgo finished a cross from Lucie Bertrand to make it 1-0. Limestone added another in the 25th minute on a long-distance shot from Bertrand and a third in the 27th minute from Hidalgo, assisted by Teagan Hallaran to run their advantage out to 3-0 at the half.
- The Wasps had an immediate response out of the break. Junior forward Riley Firebaugh (Roanoke, Va.) fired a shot from the right wing that kissed off of the crossbar and into the back of the net just 18 seconds into the second half for her first career collegiate goal to trim the deficit to two. E&H was not done, as sophomore forward Hana Kirsch (Powell, Tenn.) tallied her first career collegiate goal on an assist from sophomore midfielder Charlotte Stavis (Charlotte, N.C.) in the 56th minute and the score stood at 3-2. The Saints turned up the pressure over the rest of the half, outshooting the Wasps 8-4 over the final 30 minutes, but neither team could convert and Limestone held on for the 3-2 win.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Firebaugh and Kirsch registered a goal each on their lone shots of the afternoon. Senior midfielder Karlijn Keuters (The Hague, NETHERLANDS) had a team-high five attempts while Stavis fired three shots and had an assist.
- Junior goalkeeper Adriana Rehg (Talbott, Tenn.) recorded a career-high 11 saves in net for the Wasps.
Limestone Individual Leaders
- Hidalgo led the way for the Saints with a pair of goals on four shots, all of which found the target. Bertrand finished with one goal and one assist after registering five shots.
- Rosemary Elliott earned the win for Limestone after stopping a pair of shots in goal.

- Emory & Henry will be back at home on Wednesday, October 16 when they host the Pioneers of Tusculum University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. as the nightcap of a doubleheader with the men's team.
