Emory & Henry’s Taylor Guardalabene Named ODAC Swimmer Of The Week

FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College freshman Taylor Guardalabene has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the second straight week that a Wasp has earned the honor.

The Charlotte, N.C. native led Emory & Henry to a 156-99 win over Hollins University in the Wasps' first ODAC dual meet of the year Friday on the road. The Wasps won 13 of the 14 events in the meet and set 13 school records on the day.

Guardalabene won all three of her individual races, setting three school records in the process. She began her slate of individual races with a 2:05.28 in the 200-yard freestyle. The Myers Park High School graduate went back-to-back later in the meet, grabbing victories in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard individual medley, clocking times of 1:04.28 and 2:21.84, respectively.

She was also on the 400-yard medley relay team which led off the meet with a school-record 4:30.60, swimming the freestyle leg to anchor the race.

Emory & Henry will return to action on Saturday when it travels to Sweet Briar College for an ODAC tri-meet with the Vixens and the Quakers of Guilford College. The competition is scheduled to start at noon.
