Emory & Henry’s Michaela Nolte Named ODAC Swimmer Of The Week

FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College freshman Michaela Nolte has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the fifth time in the past two seasons that an E&H swimmer has won the award and marks the first time in Nolte's career.

Emory & Henry picked up a pair of dual meet wins last week, defeating Ferrum College, 159-37, and topping Bridgewater College, 146-58. The Wasps won all 22 events that they swam and took first and second place in 14 of the 18 individual races.

The Hillsborough, N.C., native won all six of the races that she entered across the two days claiming four individual and two relay victories.

She set school records in the 100-meter butterfly (1:09.32) and anchored the record-breaking 200-meter medley relay (2:10.08) on Friday against Ferrum. Saturday afternoon against Bridgewater, Nolte posted a new program-best time in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:19.39) and swam the final leg of the 200-meter freestyle relay (1:56.62).

Emory & Henry (2-0, 1-0 ODAC) will return to action on Friday afternoon when hosts Hollins University at the E&H Aquatics Center. The meet is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
