Jessica Richardson Named ODAC Women's Swimmer Of The Week

FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College sophomore Jessica Richardson has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the second week in a row and the eighth time in the past three seasons that an E&H swimmer has won the award.

Emory & Henry earned a blowout 173-31 ODAC win over Hollins University on Friday afternoon. The Wasps went 1-2-3 in eight of the nine individual races and took the top two spots in both relays.

The Vero Beach, Fla., native won all three of the races that she swam, earning a pair of individual victories and one relay win. It is the first time in Richardson's career that she has been selected for weekly conference honors.

Richardson started things off by swimming the anchor leg of the 200-yard medley relay. She recorded an unofficial split of :24.9 as the Wasps won the race in 1:55.72.

The 2014 All-ODAC First-Teamer went 2:20.20 to win the 200-yard individual medley and completed her day with a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, swimming a 1:03.67.

Emory & Henry (2-0, 2-0 ODAC) will remain on the road Saturday when it travels to Sweet Briar, Virginia for a double-dual with Sweet Briar College and Guilford College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
