Allison Fowler Named ODAC Women’s Swimmer Of The Week

FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College sophomore Allison Fowler has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the third week in a row and the ninth time in the past three seasons that an E&H swimmer has won the award.

Emory & Henry earned a pair of decisive wins in a double dual meet on the campus of Sweet Briar College last Saturday. The Wasps defeated the host Vixens of Sweet Briar, 164-41, and claimed a 167-22 victory over the Guilford College Quakers. E&H won all 11 races on the afternoon, going 1-2-3 in four of the nine individual events and 1-2 in four others.

The Morristown, Tenn., native and reigning ODAC Swimmer of the Year, won all three races that she swam, earning a pair of individual victories and one relay win. It is the second time in Fowler's career that she has been selected for weekly conference honors.

Fowler won the 200-meter individual medley in 2:33.81, a time that was just .37 seconds shy of a new school record. She posted a time of 1:09.73 in the 100-meter butterfly, which was .61 seconds off of setting a new best E&H mark.

In the final event of the day, Fowler swam the third leg of the 200-meter freestyle relay, helping the Wasps to a first-place finish in a time of 1:57.02.

Emory & Henry (4-0, 4-0 ODAC) will have its first home meet of the year on Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. The Wasps will host Ferrum College and King (Tenn.) University in a double dual. The men's teams from Ferrum and King are also scheduled to be in action.
