Emory & Henry’s Michaela Nolte Named ODAC Women’s Swimmer Of The Week

FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College sophomore Michaela Nolte has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the fourth time this season that an E&H swimmer has won the award and marks the third time in Nolte's career.

The reigning ODAC Rookie of the Year led Emory & Henry to the Union College Winter Invitational title winning five of the eight events in which she swam. Nolte broke three individual records and was part of the 800-yard freestyle relay which demolished the previous E&H mark by over seven seconds (7:48.56).

The Hillsborough, N.C., native broke her own ODAC record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.46 and posted new school-record marks in the 100-yard freestyle (:52.85) and 200-yard freestyle (1:54.45). The freestyle records were achieved on the leadoff legs of the 400-yard and 800-yard freestyle relays, respectively.

Nolte's swims in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.13) also reached the NCAA Division III "B" Qualifying Standard. It is the first time in program history that a national cut has been made at the mid-season invitational.

The only non-scholarship school in the field, E&H still won seven of the 18 events and claimed first in three of the five relays. The Wasps set a total of seven new program records on the weekend.

Emory & Henry (6-0, 4-0 ODAC) has completed the fall portion of its schedule. The Wasps will take their annual winter training trip to Cocoa Beach, Florida during the first week of January before beginning the spring slate of their meets.
