Allison Fowler Named ODAC Women’s Swimmer Of The Week

FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College sophomore Allison Fowler has been selected as the final Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week for the 2014-15 season, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the fifth time this year that an E&H swimmer has won the award.

Emory & Henry cruised to a double-dual sweep of NCAA Division II opponents Mars Hill University and King University on Saturday. The Wasps won 10 of the 12 events on the afternoon, defeating the Lions by a 193-60 score and the Lady Tornado, 205-34.

The Morristown, Tenn., native and 2014 ODAC Swimmer of the Year, won all four races in which she swam, earning a trio of individual victories and one relay win. It is the third time in Fowler's career that she has been selected for weekly conference honors.

Fowler won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:01.26 and posted a 200-yard butterfly time of 2:15.94, winning her event by over six seconds. Her swim of 2:15.89 in the 200-yard individual medley gave her first place by a margin of 3.87 seconds.

In her relay appearance, Fowler swam the butterfly leg of the 200-yard medley relay as the Wasps posted a total time of 1:53.84, winning by over 4.5 seconds.

Emory & Henry now has two weeks to prepare for the 2015 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships next month. The meet will run from Friday, February 13 through Sunday, February 15 and will take place at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
