Michaela Nolte Named ODAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week

FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College junior Michaela Nolte has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the first time this year that an E&H swimmer has won the award and marks the fourth time in Nolte's career. Nolte also won ODAC Women's Swimmer of the Week after last year's mid-season invitational.

Emory & Henry won the swimming portion of the Third Annual Transylvania Invitational this past weekend, picking up victories in all five of the relays and three individual events. The list of teams competing includes Wittenberg University of the North Coast Athletic Conference, which finished second, and third-place Rhodes College, the 2015 Southern Athletic Association Champion.

The Hillsborough, North Carolina native and 2013 ODAC Rookie of the Year was part of all four of the winning relays and posted two event wins and a second-place finish. Nolte broke both the Emory & Henry and ODAC record twice in the 100-yard breaststroke en route to a NCAA Division III "B Cut" with a time of 1:04.99 in the finals. She also achieved a "B Cut" in the 200-yard breaststroke, winning the event in 2:22.96, and won the 50-yard freestyle in :24.29.

Nolte also helped propel Emory & Henry to dominance in the relays, swimming on the 200- and 400-yard freestyle and 200- and 400-yard medley relays. She provided the leadoff leg on the 200-free relay and was the anchor in the 400 while swimming the second leg of the medleys.

E&H has completed the fall portion of its season and will next compete on Saturday, January 16 when it hosts King (Tenn.) University and Carson-Newman University at the Emory & Henry Aquatics Center. The meet is scheduled for a noon start.
