SOMERS, Wis. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Swimming Team has achieved a No. 32 national ranking in NCAA Division III from CollegeSwimming.com through the end of mid-season invitationals, CollegeSwimming.com officials announced this week. The Wasps achieve this ranking after winning the swimming portion of the Third Annual Transylvania Invitational last weekend.
The rankings are compiled via "Performance Points," which score each team's top 27 swims in a given meet over a six-week period. The Wasps sit just 13 Performance Points outside of the Top 25 as there are 31 teams within 50 points of 10th. The only Old Dominion Athletic Conference program that is ranked above E&H is 25-time league champion, Washington and Lee University, which is currently 13th.
Emory & Henry has eight times top-50 in the country so far this year. All five of the Wasps relays are ranked in the top 35 while junior Michaela Nolte (Hillsborough, N.C.) holds a pair of NCAA Division III "B Cuts" and has a trio of top-50 swims this season.
E&H's top relay is the 200-yard freestyle relay which is currently 11th with a time of 1:36.70. Also in the top-20 is the 400-yard freestyle relay at 18th (3:34.08) while the 800-yard freestyle relay is 34th (7:58.90). The 200-yard medley relay went 1:47.62 (21st) while the 400-yard medley relay is 22nd with a swim of 3:57.24.
As an individual, Nolte is currently 18th with her ODAC-record swim of 1:04.99 in the 100-yard breaststroke, while also holding a "B Cut." The five-time conference champion is 21st in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.96) with a "B Cut" and has cracked the top 50 at 47th with her swim of :24.22 in the 50-yard freestyle.
Among ODAC teams, Emory & Henry has the fastest swim of the season the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke and 400-yard individual medley. The Wasps have a top-three time in eight of 13 individual races including four of six top times in the 50-free and three of the best five in the 100-breast. Two of E&H's relays are currently best in the league while the other three are second-fastest.
