Emory & Henry’s Michaela Nolte Named Academic All-District By CoSIDA

AUSTIN, Texas – Emory & Henry College has seen one of its women's swimmers named to the 2015-16 NCAA Division III CoSIDA Academic All-District V At-Large Team, CoSIDA officials announced Thursday. CoSIDA is the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Junior Michaela Nolte (Hillsborough, N.C.) becomes the first swimmer in E&H program history to earn Academic All-District honors. An eight-time individual ODAC Champion and five-time relay champion, Nolte was also named the ODAC Rookie of the Year in 2014 and the ODAC Women's Swimmer of the Year in 2016.

One of two Old Dominion Athletic Conference swimmers to earn the honor, Nolte is also a two-time CSCAA Honorable Mention Scholar All-American. She is a three-time defending conference champion in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststrokes, a two-time defending champion in the 50-yard freestyle and holds the ODAC record in all three events.

The first Emory & Henry swimmer to compete at the NCAA Division III Championships, Nolte finished 18th in the 100-yard breaststroke, 17th in the 200-yard breaststroke this past March. Her finishes earned her alternate status for the finals.

As an Academic All-District First-Teamer, Nolte is now eligible for Academic All-America® honors. The At-Large teams are generally recognized as the most difficult to earn a spot on as swimming is joined by tennis, golf, lacrosse, gymnastics, field hockey, ice hockey, fencing and other sports not explicitly represented by an award of their own.

CoSIDA's Academic All-America® program has recognized student-athletes for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom for over 50 years. CoSIDA members nominate and vote in selection of Academic All-District and All-America performers in 12 sport categories across all divisions of college athletics.
