Emory & Henry Women’s Swimming Releases 2016-17 Schedule

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Swimming Team is excited to announce its schedule for the 2016-17 season. Under the direction of first-year Head Coach Cody Skinner, this winter's slate of meets will see the Wasps with an increased focus on invitationals while still swimming several dual and double dual dates.

E&H will begin the year as always on Saturday, October 15 at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Relays on the campus of Washington and Lee University. The event gives the league's teams a chance to get back in action in a more relaxed format with several NCAA-sanctioned events as well as others which help build team chemistry and test relay transitions.

Next up for the Wasps is the Sewanee Invitational which will be held on the weekend of Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29. The first event is set for 4:00 p.m., Friday afternoon.

Emory & Henry's first dual meet will be at Ferrum on Saturday, November 5 at 1:00 p.m. The Wasps make their home debut for the season on Saturday, November 19 at 1:00 p.m., when they welcome Hollins University to the E&H Aquatics Center.

For a third year in a row, Emory & Henry will compete in the Transylvania Invitational as its major mid-season event. The Wasps won the swimming portion of the meet last year and will look to defend their title on Saturday, December 3 and Sunday, December 4.

The team will make its annual Christmas Break Training Trip to Florida on the week following New Year's Day.

After returning to Southwest Virginia and getting back into the classroom, E&H will swim in a double dual meet at Bridgewater College on Saturday, January 14 at 1:00 p.m. The Wasps will take on the Bridgewater Eagles and will face off against Hollins for a second time on the year.

The final regular season meet for Emory & Henry will be on Friday, January 27 as the Wasps welcome local rivals King (Tenn.) University and Milligan College for a double dual. The first event is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

The 2017 ODAC Championships are set for the weekend of Friday, February 10 through Sunday, February 12 in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Greensboro Aquatic Center will serve as the host for the conference championships for the sixth-straight year.

The NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championship returns to Shenandoah, Texas this year. Swimmers who earn the qualifying standards for this year's championship will compete for national honors during the week of Wednesday, March 15 through Saturday, March 18.
