Emory & Henry Women’s Swimming Remains Third After Day Two Of The 2017 ODAC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Swimming Team picked up its first event win of the 2017 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Swimming Championships Saturday and added another pair of second-place finishes. The Wasps remain in third, 60 points out of second place, after 12 of the 18 events have been completed.

The Events
Event 11 – 200-Yard Medley Relay – Emory & Henry took runner-up honors as senior Jessica Richardson (Vero Beach, Fla.), senior Michaela Nolte (Hillsborough, N.C.), junior Brianna Chessock (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and freshman Olivia Anson (Apex, N.C.) swam a 1:49.16.
Event 13 – 400-Yard Individual Medley – Freshman Savannah Scarbrough (Crozet, Va.) finished in seventh place, clocking a 4:58.05.
Event 15 – 100-Yard Butterfly – Anson clocked a 1:03.07 in the finals to earn a seventh-place finish.
Event 17 – 200-Yard Freestyle – Freshman Taylor Simmons (Fincastle, Va.) went 2:09.92 which was good for 10th overall.
Event 19 – 100-Yard Breaststroke – Nolte made it a clean sweep with her fourth ODAC Championship in the event. She swam a 1:04.35 in the final to win by 0.70 seconds. Chessock was fifth (1:08.97) while Scarbrough finished seventh (1:11.63). In the Consolation Final, junior Kelsey Jones (Roanoke, Va.) swam a 1:12.47 (12th) and senior Kia Hamilton (Memphis, Tenn.) stopped the watches in 1:18.43 (15th).
Event 21 – 100-Yard Backstroke – Richardson made it back-to-back second-place finishes going :57.73, just .05 seconds off her school record time which she set Friday on the leadoff leg of the 400-yard medley relay. Senior Jordan Greenburg (Cordova, Tenn.) won the consolation final (1:02.62) to finish ninth.
Event 23 – 800-Yard Freestyle Relay – E&H turned in a fourth-place finish to complete Day Two. The group of Greenburg, Hamilton, Scarbrough and Jones turned in a time of 8:35.12.

Event 11 – 200-Yard Medley Relay – Emory & Henry is seeded fifth going into this evening's finals after a swim of 2:03.08.
Event 13 – 400-Yard Individual Medley – Freshman Savannah Scarbrough (Crozet, Va.) put up a 4:55.81 to seed herself sixth.
Event 15 – 100-Yard Butterfly – Freshman Olivia Anson (Apex, N.C.) has the number five seed in the Championship Final tonight after swimming a 1:02.25.
Event 17 – 200-Yard Freestyle – Freshman Taylor Simmons (Fincastle, Va.) put up a time of 2:11.49 for the number 10 seed in the Consolation Final. Senior Lauren Blakey (Davidson, N.C.) finished 18th (2:17.02) and is the second alternate for the finals.
Event 19 – 100-Yard Breaststroke – Emory & Henry has five swimmers competing tonight with senior Michaela Nolte (Hillsborough, N.C.) the number one seed (1:04.03). Joining Nolte in the Championship Final are junior Brianna Chessock (Winston-Salem, Va.) and Scarbrough who are seeded fifth (1:09.57) and sixth (1:11.52), respectively. Junior Kelsey Jones (Roanoke, Va.) is 11th (1:12.58) while senior Kia Hamilton (Memphis, Tenn.) is 14th (1:16.07) for the Consolation Final.
Event 21 – 100-Yard Backstroke – Senior Jessica Richardson (Vero Beach, Fla.) has the number two seed entering this evening's finals after swimming a :58.28. Senior Jordan Greenburg (Cordova, Tenn.) is seeded ninth for the Consolation Final with a swim of 1:02.70.
