INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After completing yet another outstanding season, Emory & Henry College senior Michaela Nolte (Hillsborough, N.C.), has been invited to compete in the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming Championships next month.

A 10-time Old Dominion Athletic Conference individual champion, Nolte will return to the national stage for the second year in a row with an invitation to compete in the 200-yard breaststroke. This year, the NCAA invited the top 21 times in each event to compete in the National Championships.

Nolte earned NCAA "B" Qualifying Standards in both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke during the season. Her time of 2:19.43 in the 200-breast was good for 19th in the country while her 100-breast time (1:04.03) was good for 25th. By virtue of having a "B" Cut in the 100-yard breaststroke, Nolte will be eligible to swim that event as well as a third race of her choice. She will compete in the 50-yard freestyle with her seed time of :23.95 ranking 46th-best in the field.

A four-time Old Dominion Athletic Conference Champion in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststrokes, Nolte holds the E&H and league records in both events. She is also a two-time champion in the 50-yard freestyle, a four-time All-ODAC First Team selection, and has been named ODAC Rookie of the Year, ODAC Swimmer of the Year and ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year during her career.

In last year's national championships, Nolte finished 17th in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.75) and 18th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.49), narrowly missing out on a spot in the finals in both events.

The Division III National Championship meet will take place over four days from Wednesday, March 15 to Saturday, March 18 at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas. The 50-yard freestyle will be on Wednesday, while the 100-yard breaststroke will be contested on Friday and the 200-yard breaststroke on Saturday. Each event will follow the format of preliminaries in the morning and finals in the evening.
