Olivia Anson named ODAC Women's Swimmer of the Week

FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College sophomore Olivia Anson has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the first time this year that an E&H swimmer has won the award.

The Apex, North Carolina native and 2017 All-ODAC Third-Teamer earned a three individual wins and swam on a winning relay this weekend as the Wasps went 3-1 in a pair of double-dual meets.

Friday against King (Tenn.) University and Mars Hill University, Anson swam the second leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay in :57.66 to help guide the Wasps to a win and a time of 3:52.88. She was third in the 100-yard freestyle and fourth in the 50-free.

Saturday morning at home, Anson took the pool by storm, picking up a trio of individual wins. She went 2:18.93 to take first in the 200-meter freestyle and made it back-to-back events with a victory in the 50-meter freestyle (:28.83). Anson completed the sweep in the 100-meter freestyle, stopping the watches in 1:02.67.

Emory & Henry will complete the dual meet portion of its schedule on Saturday when it faces off against Sweet Briar College at 2:00 p.m.
