ROCK HILL, S.C. – Emory & Henry College freshman swimmer Mackenzie Barnett has been selected as the Varsity Gems South Atlantic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday. Barnett is the first-ever E&H women's swimmer to receive weekly honors from the SAC office.

The Monroe Township, New Jersey native won three individual events in the Wasps' 110-90 win at King (Tenn.) University on Friday evening. She started the meet with a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle at 10:57.29 and continued by taking first in the 100-yard freestyle (:55.84) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:32.96).
On Saturday, Barnett led E&H as it faced off against a pair of NCAA Division I programs in the University of North Carolina Asheville and Virginia Military Institute. She was the runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.47 and placed fifth in the 50-free and 100-free.
Emory & Henry will next compete at the inaugural SAC Championships which will run from Wednesday, February 8 through Saturday, February 11 at the Mecklenburg County Aquatics Center.
