Emory & Henry Women's Swimming Sweeps Its Double Dual With Mars Hill And King Saturday

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams closed out the home portion of their season on Saturday with a double dual against Mars Hill University and King (Tenn.) University. Both teams set two program records on the afternoon as the women won five events on their way to a pair of team wins.

The Men
- Freshman Ryan Teuton (Chattanooga, Tenn.) set a new program record in the 200-meter individual medley, swimming a 2:18.97 to finish fifth.
- Junior Corey Kidd (Stockbridge, Ga.) placed third in the 100-back at 1:02.83 with Teuton coming in fourth (1:04.15).
- Sophomore Max Betzer (Cumming, Ga.) claimed third in the 400-meter freestyle, stopping the watches in 4:47.10.
- The 200-meter medley relay of sophomore Caleb Patton (Marion, Va.), Teuton, Kidd and freshman Brady Jones (Bluefield, Va.) broke the E&H mark with a swim of 1:54.47, taking third.
- The Wasps also had a third-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle relay at 1:55.25 thanks to the efforts of Betzer, freshman Lucas Cheuvront (Newport News, Va.), freshman Alexander Hubbard (Davidson, N.C.) and freshman Peter Davis (Manassas, Va.).

The Women
- Junior Paige Gelenski (Boca Raton, Fla.) broke the school record in the 100-meter butterfly, swimming a 1:07.53 to take second in the event. She was also the runner-up in the 200-meter individual medley (2:36.43).
- Sophomore Samantha Pepevnik (Porsgrunn, NORWAY) won the 200-IM in 2:33.52, coming within eight one-hundredths of a second of a 10-year-old record. She was also second in the 100-meter backstroke, touching the wall in 1:11.59.
- Junior Hope Christensen (Moroni, Utah) won the 50-meter freestyle in :28.17 and was second in the 100-free (1:05.03). Sophomore Mackenzie Barnett (Monroe Township, N.J.) claimed the win in the 200-free at 2:17.35 and was third in the 50-free (:28.17). She closed the meet with a record performance, leading off the 200-meter freestyle relay with a time of :27.39.
- Junior Peyton Helscher (Simi Valley, Calif.) was third in the 400-meter freestyle (5:07.00) while sophomores Gabby Sadosky (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Maggie Robinson (Canton, Ga.) were third in the 100-fly (1:13.59) and 100-free (1:07.29), respectively.
- The Wasps won both of the relays, helping them to seal the team wins. The 200-medley relay clocked a 2:08.19 with the 200-free relay going a 1:58.43.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will close out the regular season on Saturday, January 27 when it visits King for a double dual against the Tornado and the Hawks of Chowan University. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
