Emory & Henry Women’s Tennis Gets Past Greensboro, 5-4, Tuesday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Tennis Team (2-2) picked up a 5-4 decision over Greensboro College (0-3) Tuesday afternoon at home. The Wasps came back from a 2-1 deficit after doubles play, winning at first through fourth singles to take the match.

At number one doubles, sophomores Alyssa Wingate (Independence, Va.) and Blair Brabson (Knoxville, Tenn.) defeated Meredith Kelly and Kristen Smith by an 8-5 score. Wingate took her singles match over Kelly, 7-5, 6-1, while Brabson won by a 6-1, 6-0 score over Lauren Fisher at number three singles.

Emory & Henry sophomore Emily Bolt (Independence, Va.) defeated Smith in the number two singles spot, 6-3, 6-4, and freshman Sheyenne Cleveland (Rural Retreat, Va.) picked up a win at No. 4 singles over Elizabeth Adair, 6-2, 6-4.

E&H will travel to Lexington, Va., this weekend for three Old Dominion Athletic Conference matches. The Wasps will take on Virginia Wesleyan College and Randolph-Macon College on Saturday and will face off against Washington and Lee University on Sunday.
