Bridgewater Women's Tennis Beats Emory & Henry, 9-0

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College Women's Tennis Team (15-3, 8-2 ODAC) picked up a 9-0 sweep over Emory & Henry College (8-11, 3-8 ODAC) Sunday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.

Bridgewater got out to a 3-0 league after doubles play. The highlight came at No. 2 doubles where sophomore Sheyenne Cleveland (Rural Retreat, Va.) and freshman Meredith Yeary (Knoxville, Tenn.) battled but came up short, 9-7.

In singles, junior Alyssa Wingate (Independence, Va.) and freshman Taylor Evans (Weber City, Va.) both fell by 6-2, 6-2 scores while Cleveland nearly claimed the first set off her opponent, 6-4, 6-2.

Emory & Henry finishes the season with eight wins, eclipsing last season's win total. The Wasps finish in a tie for ninth place in the ODAC and will await the announcement of the all-league teams which will come with the completion of the 2013 ODAC Tournament.
