Ohio Wesleyan Women's Tennis Slips Past Emory & Henry, 5-4, Wednesday

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Ohio Wesleyan University Women's Tennis Team (3-4) eked out a 5-4 win over Emory & Henry College (6-3) on Wednesday afternoon at the Hilton Head Motor Coach Resort.

E&H picked up a point in doubles as senior Alyssa Wingate (Independence, Va.) and freshman Stella Di Michele (San Remo, ITALY) won, 8-4, at the top pairing. Sophomore Meredith Yeary (Knoxville, Tenn.) and freshman Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) nearly won at the second doubles flight, falling 9-8 with a 8-6 score in the tiebreak.

Di Michele won 6-1 6-0 at No. 1 singles while Wingate topped her opponent, 6-0 6-4, at the second singles flight. Yeary notched a 6-0 6-2 win at No. 3.

Emory & Henry will be back in action on Tuesday when it hosts Washington and Lee University in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup at 3:00 p.m.
