Virginia Wesleyan Women’s Tennis Nips Emory & Henry, 5-4, Saturday Morning
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan College Women's Tennis Team (4-12, 2-7 ODAC) picked up a 5-4 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win over visiting Emory & Henry College (6-8, 0-6 ODAC) Saturday morning at the Everett Tennis Center.

The freshman tandem of Stella Di Michele (San Remo, ITALY) and Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) earned an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles for the Wasps' point in doubles competition. E&H nearly had two points in doubles but the second flight pairing of senior Alyssa Wingate (Independence, Va.) and sophomore Meredith Yeary (Knoxville, Tenn.) fell by a 9-7 score.

Riner picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at the fourth singles flight to complete her sweep on the day while Di Michele claimed a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the premier singles matchup.

Wingate won by a 6-4, 6-1 score at number two singles to give the Wasps their fourth point of the day.

Emory & Henry will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when it faces off against Guilford College in ODAC action at 1:00 p.m.
