Emory & Henry Women’s Tennis Competes In ITA South Regional Championship Over The Weekend

ATLANTA, Ga. – Two members of the Emory & Henry College Women's Tennis Team continued the fall portion of competition over the weekend at the ITA South Regional Championship. The event was hosted on the campus of Emory University.

Junior Chiara Mossi (Manduria, ITALY) led the Wasps as she went 2-1 in the singles tournament to reach the Round of 16. She won her first match by a 6-3, 6-3 score over Amelia McIsaac of Rhodes College and advanced through the second round with a 6-1, 6-2 over Danielle Truitt from Emory. In the Round of 16, Mossi drew the top-seeded Bronte Goodhue from Sewanee. The pair battled for three sets before Goodhue claimed a 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 win.

Sophomore Stella Di Michele (San Remo, ITALY) won easily in the first round (6-0, 6-1) over Meredith College's Taylor Brennan but fell by a 6-4, 6-4 score to Marissa Levine of Emory in the second round.

In doubles play, Di Michele and Mossi started things off with an 8-5 win over Elyse Smith and Anne Thomas. The duo met the third-seeded tandem of Goodhue and Christina Merchant from Sewanee and battled hard but lost 9-7 in a touch decision.

Emory & Henry will next compete at the Methodist University Fall Tournament. The event will take place from Friday, October 3 to Sunday, October 5.
