Emory & Henry Women's Tennis Drops Match To Guilford, 7-2, Saturday Afternoon

Emory, Va. – The Wasps women's tennis team (2-4, 1-3 ODAC) dropped their second straight ODAC match to the Guilford College Quakers (5-4, 3-4 ODAC).

The day started well with an 8-5 win at one doubles for Stella Di Michele (San Remo, ITALY) and Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) The duo, which was named to the All-ODAC Second Team last season, improved their record to 2-1 on the year.  With an 8-0 loss at two doubles, the twosome of Danielle Amoruso (Orange County, Va.) and Kala Curtis (Locust Groves, Va.) lost their first match as a pairing.  A victory at three doubles was awarded to Guilford.

Di Michele did her best to pick up the team with a win at one singles.  She defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-2 to pick up her team-high 10th singles win on the season.  At the second flight, Riner fell 6-2, 6-0. With a score of 6-0, 6-0 Amoruso lost at the three spot.  Curtis was able to win one game, but ultimately lost 6-0, 6-1. The Wasps forfeited the five and six singles spots.

The Wasps next match is scheduled for Friday, April 10th at home. The team will take on, ODAC opponent, Hollins University at 3:30 p.m.
