Franklin, Va. - The Emory & Henry women's tennis team (8-5, 4-3 ODAC) earned their eighth victory of the season over non conference foe, Ferrum College (2-16, 1-11 USA South). The 9-0 victory is the second shut out of the season for the Wasps.
At one doubles, Sveva Mazzari (San Remo, ITALY) and Savanna Summers (Bluff City, Tn.) took out their opponents, 8-4. The two continue their hot streak as a tandem. Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) and Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.) made quick work of their opponents at two doubles, winning, 8-1. Katie Meade (Coeburn, Va.) and Ana-Belen Gomez (Irving, Texas) took down their counterparts, 8-3.
Mazzari continues her winning streak at one singles, beating her opponent quickly, 6-1, 6-0. Riner earned a victory, taking out the opposition, 6-3, 6-2. Summers made quick work of the Ferrum player, winning 6-2, 6-0. Gomez took out the number four player for Ferrum, 6-2, 6-1. At five singles, Sheaves played very well, beating her opponent, 6-1, 6-1. And to finish the dominant victory, Kala Curtis (Locust Grove, Va.) earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at the six spot.
The Wasps play at Hollins on Sunday afternoon in an ODAC matchup.
