Emory & Henry Takes Down Bridgewater, 5-4, to Earn Spot in ODAC Tournament, Sunday Afternoon

Emory, Va. - In their final match of the regular season, the Emory & Henry women's tennis team (10-6, 6-4 ODAC) dropped Bridgewater College (5-11, 4-6 ODAC) to earn a spot in the ODAC Tournament.  Currently, the Wasps are tied for fourth in the ODAC.

At one doubles, Sveva Mazzari (San Remo, ITALY) and Savanna Summers (Bluff City, Tn.) dispatched their opponents, 8-2.  The two finished the regular season 11-2 as doubles partners.  Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) and Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.) went down, 8-1, at two doubles.  Three doubles was forfeited to E&H.

Mazzari finished her regular season undefeated in match play with a 16-0 record.  She defeated her opponent, 6-0, 6-0.  Riner lost, 6-2, 7-5 at two, while Summers went down, 6-2, 6-2, at three.  The four singles spot was forfeited as well.  Sheaves took a 6-1, 6-2 loss at five.  To clinch the match, Katie Meade (Coeburn, Va.) beat her opponent, 6-3, 6-4.  The back and forth match sealed the tie for fourth place in the ODAC.

The Wasps first match in the ODAC tournament will be next week with a time and place to be determined.
