Emory & Henry Women's Tennis Blows By Lynchburg, 5-0, to Advance to ODAC Semifinals

Charlottesville, Va. - The Emory & Henry women's tennis team (11-6, 6-4 ODAC) shut out the Lynchburg Hornets (12-9, 6-4 ODAC), 5-0, in the quarterfinals of the ODAC tournament.  The win in the ODAC Tournament was the first for the women's tennis team since 2007, when the team won in the consolation quarterfinals.  

At one doubles, Sveva Mazzari (San Remo, ITALY) and Savanna Summers (Bluff City, Tn.) dominated their opponents, 8-0, to start the match off.  Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) and Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.) dispatched their opponents at two doubles, 8-3.  Ana-Belen Gomez (Irving, Texas) and Katie Meade (Coeburn, Va.) also won at three doubles, 8-4.

Mazzari shut out her opponent, 6-0, 6-0, to continue her undefeated ODAC streak.  The only other singles match that finished was Summers at the three spot.  She defeated her opponent, 6-1, 6-1.  Everyone else started their match, but did not finish to the match being won by Emory & Henry.

The Wasps will take on the Generals from Washington and Lee on Saturday, May 7th.  Washington and Lee is ranked sixth in the Atlantic South region and fifteenth in the country.
