E&H Women's Tennis Falls Short at Averett University, 5-4, Sunday Afternoon

DANVILLE, Va. – The Emory & Henry women's tennis team (1-2, 0-0 ODAC) played in tough matchup at Averett University (1-1, 0-0 USA South) on Sunday afternoon. The Wasps wound up falling one match short of an overall victory, losing 5-4. 

Doubles
-Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) and Savanna Summers (Bluff City, Tenn.) took an 8-1 loss at one doubles
-Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.) and Ana-Belen Gomez (San Antonio, Texas) defeated their counterparts at two doubles, 8-2
-The Wasps lost in a walkover at three doubles 

Singles
-Riner fell, 6-2, 6-2, at one singles
-Gomez played tough at two sinles, but went down in three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 10-6
-Summers earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory at three singles
-Sheaves dominated her opponent with a 6-0, 6-0 win
-Kelsey Holt (Staffordsville, Va.) also blanked her opponent, 6-0, 6-0
-The Wasps lost six singles in a walkover
