The Emory & Henry Women's Tennis Team Shuts Out Greensboro, 9-0, As The Men Win, 5-4, Sunday Afternoon

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Both the men's and women's tennis tennis ended their losing streaks Sunday afternoon. The women (3-6, 0-1 ODAC) came into the match with a four-match losing streak, but they came out on top vs. Greensboro (0-10, 0-1 USA South). Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.) was a key player for the Wasps this weekend, going 3-0 in singles. The men (2-7, 0-1 ODAC) were on a seven-match losing streak, before winning a close one, 5-4, against Greensboro (2-8, 1-4 USA South) 

WOMEN

Doubles
-Liz Graham (Bristol, Va.)and Savanna Summers (Bluff City, Tenn.) blanked their opponent 8-0 at one doubles.
- At two doubles, Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) and Ana-Belen Gomez (San Antonio, Texas) also shut out their opponents.
-Three doubles was forfeited to the Wasps.

Singles
-Riner blew by her opponent, 6-0, 6-0 at one singles.
-Graham earned another victory at two singles by a score of 6-1, 6-0.
-Summers did not stop the onslaught after she beat her opponent, 6-0, 6-0.
-Gomez won 6-1, 6-0 at four singles
-Sheaves earned her third singles victory of the weekend, beating her counterpart, 6-0, 6-0.
-Six singles was forfeited to the Wasps.

MEN

Doubles
-John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) and Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.)won at one doubles, 8-6
-Liam Davidson (Newport News, Va.) and Andrew McClung (Roanoke, Va.) took an 8-4 loss at two doubles.
-Cooper Garrett (Gate City, Va.) and Dalton Shipley (Gate City, Va.) earned an 8-2 victory at three doubles

Singles
-Ferguson won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
-Funkhouser played strong, but lost 6-3, 6-0 at two singles.
-At three singles, Shipley went down, 6-4, 6-1.
-McClung lost a 6-2, 6-2 heartbreaker at four singles.
-James Watson-Dare (Charlotte, N.C.) won at five singles, 6-0, 6-3
-At six, Garrett won 6-1, 6-3.

UP NEXT
The Wasps are back at home this Saturday, March 25th in their second ODAC matchup of the season versus Roanoke. The matches start at 1 p.m.
