Emory & Henry Women's Tennis Edges Out A 5-4 Victory In ODAC Matchup Over Sweet Briar, Friday Evening

BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Emory & Henry women's tennis team 8-10 (5-4 ODAC) picked up a hard fought 5-4 victory over Sweet Briar College (6-11, 2-8 ODAC). The win guarantees the Wasps a spot in the ODAC tournament with only one regular season match left to play. Due to weather, the Wasps moved their match to Bristol Racquet & Fitness Club in Bristol, Tennessee.

WOMEN

Doubles
-Liz Graham (Bristol, Va.) and Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) were down 6-5 in doubles, before the duo turned the switch on. The two wound up winning 8-6.
- At two doubles, Savanna Summers (Bluff City, Tenn.) and Bri Pierce (Purlear, N.C.) lost to their countersparts, 8-4.
-At three doubles, Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.) and Katie Meade (Coeburn, Va.) won their team-leading ninth match as a duo, 8-3.

Singles
-Riner lost at one singles, 6-3, 6-1.
-Graham also fell at two singles, 6-4, 6-3.
-Summers was determined to win at three singles. After dropping the first set, Summers came back to win the match, 3-6, 6-2, 10-8.
-Pierce also fell at four singles, 2-6, 7-6, 10-6.
-Meade blanked her opponent, 6-0, 6-0.
-Sheaves now has twelve singles wins on the year with a, 6-0, 6-0, shut out.

-The team plays in their final regular season match tomorrow, April 22nd at 1 p.m. at Bristol Racquet & Fitness Club.
