SKILLMAN, N.J. – Five members of the Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Tennis Teams have been recognized for their academic excellence by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Two players from the men's team earned the distinction of ITA Scholar-Athlete while the women saw three student-athletes recognized.
From the men's team, senior John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) and freshman Grayson McCarty (Marion, Va.) earned the accolade.
The women's recipients were junior Kala Curtis (Locust Grove, Va.), sophomore Katie Meade (Coeburn, Va.) and sophomore Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.).
A total of 1,364 NCAA Division III men's & women's tennis players were tabbed as ITA Scholar-Athlete while 3,908 players across all levels of intercollegiate tennis received the honor.
In order to receive ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: Be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
