Bridgewater Men's & Women's Tennis Earn 9-0 Victories Over Emory & Henry Sunday

EMORY, Va. - Both the Emory & Henry men's tennis team (0-6, 0-2 ODAC) and women's tennis team (2-3, 0-1 ODAC) fell 9-0 in ODAC play to Bridgewater College Sunday Afternoon. The men's side continues to slide in the standings with their sixth straight loss on the season. The Wasps fought hard, but the 5-3 Bridgewater team proved to be tough opponents. The women saw their first ODAC action, and fell to a squad that is also 5-3.

Men's Doubles

The number one team fell in straight sets, 8-0. However, two and three doubles were able to pick up a win each. Both of those squads fell by the score of 8-1. 

Women's Doubles

One and three doubles were not able to eek out any victories, falling to their counterparts, 8-0. Bri Pierce (Purlear, N.C.) and Tessa Johnston (High Point, N.C.) were able to pick up one victory at two doubles. But the duo fell, 8-1.

Men's Singles

At one singles, sophomore Grayson McCarty (Marion, Va.) earn a game in each set, losing, 6-1, 6-1. The two, five, and six seeds were each shut out 6-0, 6-0. Dalton Shipley (Gate City, Va.) and Andrew McClung (Roanoke, Va.) were each able to win a game. 

Women's Singles

One through three lost by scores of 6-0, 6-2, 6-1, 6-0, and 6-0, 6-1, respectively. Pierce fell at four singles, 6-1, 6-4. Senior Kala Curtis (Locust Grove, Va.) played hard, but was defeated, 6-2, 6-3. Wasps were shut out, 6-0, 6-0, at six singles.

Next Matches

The Wasps travel to Ferrum College for a non-conference match up versus the Panthers this Friday at 4 PM.
