Wasps Stumble On The Road, 8-1, At Lynchburg, Sunday Afternoon
LYNCHBURG, Va. - Both the Emory & Henry men's tennis team (1-14, 0-9 ODAC) and women's tennis team (4-12, 1-9 ODAC) took tough 8-1 losses at Lynchburg College on Sunday Afteroon. The match was the second straight match this weekend for the women's side. 

Men's Doubles

The number one and number three teams fell in straight sets, 8-0. Liam Davidson (Newport News, Va.) and Dalton Shipley (Gate City, Va.) were in a tough matchup at two doubles. However, the tandem suffered an 8-4 setback.

Women's Doubles

One and three doubles played strong, although they were not able to earn a victory. Both duos lost, 8-4. The second seeded doubles pairing lost, 8-1, on the day. 

Men's Singles

At one singles, sophomore Grayson McCarty (Marion, Va.) lost, 6-0, 6-1. Davidson lost, 6-1, 6-0. Shipley went down 6-2, 6-0 at three singles. The four and six seeds also lost in singles play. Andrew McClung (Roanoke, Va.) was the lone Wasp to earn a win for the men's side. The junior won, 6-2, 7-5, at five singles.

Women's Singles

Lynchburg's number one player was able to down Katie Meade (Coeburn, Va.) 6-0, 6-0.  Senior Kala Curtis (Locust Grove, Va.) didn't see much luck either, losing, 6-0, 6-2. Three singles lost, 6-1, 6-1, while four singles fell, 6-0, 7-5. Bri Pierce (Purlear, N.C.) is as dominant as they come in the ODAC. The sophomore won her team-high 13th singles match with a 6-2, 6-3 win. The six seed was shut out, 6-0, 6-0, for the Wasps.

Next Matches

The men's team will travel to Roanoke College for the season finale on Tuesday. The women will host Washington and Lee for their season finale on Wednesday.
