How It Happened
Emory & Henry earned the doubles point as junior Payton Holt (Mount Ulla, N.C.) and sophomore Tess Flanigan (Marietta, Ga.) won by a 6-0 score at No. 1 and sophomore Molly McMichael (Riner, Va.) and freshman Sueanna Breedlove (Midlothian, Va.) grabbed a 6-0 victory at No. 2. The Wasps claimed the third doubles flight by default.

In singles, freshman Sabina Chernega (Odesa, UKRAINE) blanked her opponent at the premier match. Freshman Bronwyn McAlindon (Kingsport, Tenn.) and freshman Mackenzie Graham (Tazewell, Va.) also won by the same 6-0, 6-0 score at No. 3 and No. 5, respectively. Freshman Ann Gray Perdue (Bluefield, Va.) and junior Makenzie Mendler (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) claimed their wins by dropping only one game at the second and fourth flights.
