Emory & Henry Women’s Tennis Drops 4-1 Decision To Carson-Newman

BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (2-11, 0-6 SAC) and Women's Tennis Team (3-9, 1-5 SAC) each dropped their South Atlantic Conference match to Carson-Newman University Thursday afternoon. The No. 42 nationally-ranked Eagles men's team won by a 4-0 margin while the Lady Eagles topped the Wasps 4-1.

Women's Match
- The Lady Eagles took each doubles match by a 6-2 scoreline to take the 1-0 lead after the doubles portion.
- Senior Emma Charlton (Newcastle upon Tyne, ENGLAND) defeated Summer Reeves by a 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 margin at No. 2 singles.
- Sophomore Nina Williams (Fleet, ENGLAND) took the opening set, but eventually fell to Sindija Manovska 6-4, 5-7, 1-6 at the No. 4 singles position.
- Two matches were left unfinished due to time constraints and the result already being clinched.

Men's Match
- The Eagles earned a clean sweep of the doubles section of the match to jump ahead 1-0.
-  Junior Branson Smith (Fletcher, N.C.) was defeated at No. 2 singles by Marc Janse at No. 2 singles by a 2-6, 2-6 final.
- Sophomore Diego Alvarez (Bogota, COLOMBIA) dropped his match to Matthew Saunders at No. 6 singles 1-6, 4-6.
- Three matches were left unfinished due to time constraints and the result already being clinched.

- The Wasps step out of conference play on Friday, March 29 when they travel to take on the Crusaders of North Greenville University. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. from Tigerville, South Carolina.
