Emory & Henry Track & Field Ready For 2019 ODAC Outdoor Championships This Weekend

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Track & Field Teams are set to compete at the 2019 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday. The event will be co-hosted by Randolph College and the University of Lynchburg due to most of Friday's track events being moved to Saturday and Friday's field events moved to Lynchburg's Wake Field House.

The Men
In the sprinting events, freshman Jay Kreimes (Sharps, Va.) is seeded 13th in the 100 meters (:11:20) while sophomore Conor White (Warrenton, Va.) is 13th in the 400 meters (:51.96). Sophomore Jackson Kaze (Midlothian, Va.) is 16th in the 1,500 meters at 4:20.96 while sophomore Markell Moss (Wytheville, Va.) is 13th in the 110-meter hurdles (:16.64.)

The Wasps are seeded eighth in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of :44.34 and are also entered into the 4x400 meter relay. Moss has the 18th-best distance in the long jump at 6.12 meters.

E&H is primed to score points in the throwing events, especially the shot put. Junior Justin Fannon (Abingdon, Va.) and freshman Edward Rajner (Bainbridge, N.Y.) are tied with the second-best mark of 14.01 meters while junior Trel Phillips (Ooltewah, Tenn.) is fourth (13.77m). Freshman Brody Fields (Pulaski, Va.) is seeded 16th (12.16m).

In the discus, Rajner is third (41.12m) and freshman Cooper Saunders (Charlottesville, Va.) is eighth (37.37m). Phillips (16th), Fannon (19th) and Fields (20th) are all in the top 20. Rajner has the 15th-best mark in the hammer throw at 35.14 meters while Saunders is 15th in the javelin (31.73m) coming into the championship.

The Women
Junior Graysen Barrs (Abingdon, Va.) is 18th in the 100 meters (:13.49) while freshman Maria Hatch (Emory, Va.) is 18th in the 800 meters with a tiem of 2:42.59.

In the 5,000 meters, junior Erica Grupp (Charlottesville, Va.) is seeded 14th (20:24.38) while sophomore Alette McGuire (Chesapeake, Va.) is 15th (20:33.17).

Freshman Taylor Gilbert (Abingdon, Va.) has the Wasps' best seed on the women's side with a height of 1.55 meters in the high jump (third). Freshman Lorin Zehr (Holly Pond, Ala.) is 19th in the hammer (24.41m).
