Emory & Henry Women’s Track & Field 10th After Day One Of SAC Outdoor Championships Wednesday

HICKORY, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Track & Field Teams started action in the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships on Wednesday. The women currently sit tied for 10th place after breaking four school records. The men's squad eclipsed two program marks on the day.

The Men
- 100 Meter Preliminaries – Sophomore Will Humphrey, II (Charlotte, N.C.) finished 14th in the preliminaries, breaking his own school record with a time of 10.77 seconds.
- 800 Meter Preliminaries – Freshman Heath Bowker (Salem, Va.) was 11th, running a 1:55.65 while junior Aaron Wilson (Chester, Va.) and freshman Gavin Kegler (Woodbridge, Va.) were 13th and 14th, respectively. Sophomore Samuel Tindall (Fort Defiance, Va.) was 19th, freshman Hillis Roberson, IV (Rosenburg, Texas) was 21st and freshman Caeden Bowker (Salem, Va.) was 26th.
- 1,500 Meter Preliminaries – Sophomore Miles Baldwin (Willis, Va.) placed 19th in the preliminaries, crossing the line in 4:09.87.
- 10,000 Meters – Sophomore Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) took 18th at 33:31.45 with freshman Aidan Trautman (Centreville, Md.) taking 23rd.
- 110 Meter Hurdles Preliminaries – Freshman Justin Williams (Suffolk, Va.) broke the E&H record with a time of 15.62 seconds to place 10th. Freshman Joshua Black (Woodbridge, Va.) was 12th as freshman Nour Nabi (Lake Ridge, Va.) was 15th.
- 400 Meter Hurdles Preliminaries – Nabi finished 22nd on a performance of 1:01.07 while Black was 24th.
- 3,000 Meter Steeplechase – Freshman Davis Norman (Salem, Va.) placed 16th at 10:08.98 as sophomore Justin Owens (Grundy, Va.) was 22nd and freshman Gage Coleman (Bristol, Va.) was 25th.
- Long Jump – Freshman Drew Craft (Covington, Va.) had a leap of 6.54 meters to finish 17th with freshman Joseph Ihlenburg (Roanoke, Va.) was 27th.
- Javelin – Junior Colby Davenport (Loves Mill, Va.) was 16th with a throw of 38.61 meters.

The Women
- 400 Meter Preliminaries –
Junior Michelle Diaz (Woodbridge, Va.) placed 17th with a school-record time of 1:01.71.
- 800 Meter Preliminaries – Freshman Kennedy Harris (Mineral, Va.) took 17th at 2:29.60 while freshman McKenzie Tate (Wytheville, Va.) was 18th and freshman Maya Turner (Midland, Va.) was 23rd.
- 1,500 Meter Preliminaries – Sophomore Delaney Eller (Salem, Va.) was 15th in 4:55.99.
- 100 Meter Hurdles Preliminaries – Sophomore Scarlett Eversley (Dumfries, Va.) was 12th in 15.55 seconds while freshman Adrianna Hall (Salem, Va.) placed 19th.
- 400 Meter Hurdles Preliminaries – Sophomore Madison Ricketts (Kingsport, Tenn.) qualified for the finals, running a school-record 1:06.35 to sit in fifth place. Hall finished 24th in the event.
- 3,000 Meter Steeplechase – Sophomore Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) placed eighth in the event with a school-record run of 12:18.23.
- Long Jump – Freshman Ella Knight (Graham, N.C.) posted a mark of 4.69 meters to finish 22nd.
- Hammer Throw – Sophomore Taylorann Cash (Buena Vista, Va.) was 18th in the event at 34.03 meters. Sophomore Catie Leonard (Gray, Tenn.) and junior Avery Word (Fincastle, Va.) were 23rd and 24th respectively while sophomore Hope Shockley (Abingdon, Va.) was 26th and senior Michaela Fiscus (Rural Retreat, Va.) was 27th.
- Javelin – Fiscus broke her own school record with a throw of 28.23 meters, finishing 10th.
