Emory & Henry’s Tristen Pennington Named ODAC Volleyball Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College freshman outside hitter Tristen Pennington has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the first time in her career that Pennington has earned the honor.

The Kingsport, Tenn. native led the Wasps to a 4-1 mark last week, averaging 3.68 kills and 3.26 digs per set. She posted a trio of double-doubles against Virginia Intermont College, Methodist University and St. Mary's (Md.) College at the Hollins Green Invitational. She notched a career-high 19 kills against Methodist and had 22 digs versus Virginia Intermont.

For the week, Pennington had 70 kills, a .244 hitting percentage, 62 digs and 11 service aces. She currently leads the Wasps in kills per set (3.68) and hitting percentage (.272) and is second in service aces (14), digs (68) and digs per set (3.09).

The last time an E&H player was named ODAC Player of the Week was in week one of the 2012 season. Jamie Cockerham took home the weekly league honors for the Wasps as she went on to be named to the All-ODAC First Team.

Emory & Henry (5-1, 0-0 ODAC) will return to action on Friday evening when it hosts Randolph College in ODAC action at 7:00 p.m.
