Emory & Henry Drops A Pair On Day Two Of Emory Invitational

ATLANTA – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (8-5) dropped its pair of matches on Saturday at the Emory Invitational hosted by Emory University at the Woodruff Physical Education Center.

For her efforts on the weekend, senior middle Nicole Tesh (Boone, N.C.) was named to the all-tournament team.

Emory & Henry battled Covenant College (7-4) in a five-set thriller but fell, 3-2 (24-26, 15-25, 26-24, 25-18, 15-6), after holding a 2-0 lead in the match. Freshman outside hitter Tristen Pennington (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 25 kills and 20 digs while freshman outside hitter Hannah Doss (Meadowview, Va.) notched 12 kills in the match.

Tesh had 16 kills and three service aces while freshman setter Autumn Roe (Bluff City, Tenn.) dished out 55 assists and completed the double-double with 11 digs. Senior libero Kelly Mae Kerlin (Franklin, Tenn.) registered 31 digs.

Covenant was led by Cora Schroeder's 19 kill, 13 dig performance while Hannah Rogers had 15 digs. Kirkpatrick notched 44 assists and 23 digs while Mariah Corney had a team-high 25 digs.

The Wasps concluded the weekend by dropping a 3-1 decision to Maryville (Tenn.) College (3-14). The Scots won the match by scores of 25-19, 26-28, 25-16 and 28-30. Statistics for the match were unavailable as of Saturday evening.

Emory & Henry will travel to Harrisonburg, Va. on Thursday for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup with Eastern Mennonite University. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
