Emory & Henry Volleyball Drops A Pair Of ODAC Matches Saturday

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (13-10) came up short in both of its Old Dominion Athletic Conference matches Saturday at The Batten Center on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan College. The Wasps fell by a 3-1 (25-20, 25-23, 15-25, 25-20) score to the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins and 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-20) to the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College.

Senior middle Nicole Tesh (Boone, N.C.) had 11 kills and four blocks in the first match of the day against VWC while freshman middle Kennady Thomason (Chattanooga, Tenn.) notched seven kills. Junior setter Maleah Neely (Hillsville, Va.) dished out 34 assists and added six kills. Sophomore outside hitter Hannah Stewart (Boone, N.C.) and freshman outside hitter Tristen Pennington (Kingsport, Tenn.) had five kills apiece. Senior libero Kelly Mae Kerlin (Franklin, Tenn.) notched 15 digs for a team-high.

Virginia Wesleyan was led by Alex Lambert's 19 kill performance while Tiffany Barrett added 10 kills. Kristin Sessoms had a team-high 31 assists and completed the double-double with 16 digs. Tempe Martens had nine kills and 16 digs as well for the Marlins.

Against Randolph-Macon, freshman outside hitter Hannah Doss (Meadowview, Va.) registered 10 kills while Pennington added nine kills and 11 digs. Neely had 24 assists and 14 digs, while Kerlin registered 15 digs for a second-straight match.

Tori Puryear had a team-high eight kills for R-MC while Katie Rossberg and Courtney Lowers added six kills each. Riley Martin and Bailey Troia each had 11 assists while Marli Dabareiner registered 15 digs.

Emory & Henry will return home on Tuesday for an ODAC match with Guilford College. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
