Emory & Henry Places Two On All-ODAC Volleyball Teams

FOREST, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team has seen two of its players named to the 2013 All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Teams, ODAC officials announced Tuesday. Senior middle Nicole Tesh (Boone, N.C.) was selected to the First Team while freshman outside hitter Tristen Pennington (Kingsport, Tenn.) earned second-team honors in addition to being named ODAC Rookie of the Year.

Tesh, who completed her career at E&H with a school-record 969 kills, earns all-league honors for the third-straight year. The past two seasons, Tesh was named to the All-ODAC Third Team. This year, Tesh accumulated 239 kills (2.57 k/s) and led the squad in hitting percentage (.280) and blocks (54).

Pennington notched a team-high 305 kills and led the squad with 3.11 kills per set. She was second on the squad in digs (272 / 2.78 k/s) and added 29 service aces and 23 blocks. Pennington posted nine double-doubles on the season and had a season-high 25 kills and 20 digs against Covenant College in September. The 25 kills were the most by any player in the ODAC all year.

Emory & Henry notched a 15-13 overall record this season with a 6-5 mark in ODAC play. The Wasps earned the sixth seed for the ODAC Tournament, falling to Lynchburg College in the quarterfinals.

Washington and Lee University’s M.A. Boles was named the ODAC Player of the Year while the Generals’ Head Coach Bryan Snyder was selected as ODAC Coach of the Year. Tempe Martens of Virginia Wesleyan College claimed ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete honors.
