DANVILLE, Va. – Senior middle Nicole Tesh of the Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team have been selected to the 2013 VaSID All-State College Division Volleyball Team, VaSID officials announced Tuesday. The Boone, N.C. native adds all-state honors to her All-ODAC First Team selection from earlier this fall.

Tesh finished second on the team in kills (239), kills per set (2.57) and service aces (34) while leading the squad in hitting percentage (.280) and blocks (54). She set the Emory & Henry career record for kills with 969. Tesh was also named to the All-ODAC Third Team in 2011 and 2012.

Emory & Henry notched a 15-13 overall record this season with a 6-5 mark in ODAC play. The Wasps earned the sixth seed for the ODAC Tournament, falling to Lynchburg College in the quarterfinals.

It is the first time in five seasons that an E&H player has taken home VaSID All-State honors in volleyball. Rachel Fertitta was named to the first team in 2009 after being State Rookie of the Year and All-State Second Team in 2008.

Washington and Lee University's M.A. Boles and Averett University's Allison Sparks shared State Player of the Year honors. Christopher Newport University's Brianna Sutton was named Rookie of the Year while the Captain's mentor, Lindsay Birch, was selected as State Coach of the Year for the seventh-straight year.

The VaSID All-State teams are selected by sports information directors of member institutions of the Virginia Sports Information Directors across the Commonwealth of Virginia. VaSID, founded in 1983, selects teams in two divisions (University and College) for 12 sports and three single-division teams in addition to Academic All-State teams across all sports.
